"Moral Economy of the Household"?

What struck me in the Sterne piece was the small line on page 278 about the "moral economy of the household," and how the internet, as a concept, is a tool of support for this "moral economy." I think about this and laugh. Last time I remember, studies from earlier this year showed increases in most forms of internet addiction (gambling, socialization, pornography, etc.). With this and the fact that the internet lets you see just about any sort of disturbing, disgusting crap created, wouldn't it be a detriment to the "moral economy of the household," and help in the disintegration of the standard moral fiber of families, rather than seen as something as benign as the radio?
